Description

Black and white photo of Jean Kittrell and Bill Oakley exiting the Goldenrod Showboat, dated to the 1980s. Oakley, wearing a white tuxedo and top hat, was the leasee for the Goldenrod showboat beginning in 1977. During his time leasing the boat, a kitchen was added to allow for dinner theater productions, and the boat was moored in St. Louis, Missouri on the banks of the Mississippi river near the Gateway Arch. Kittrell, arm in arm with Oakley, is wearing a white fringe dress with a jacket. The paddle wheel of the boat is visible in the background along with other people coming off the boat. This is the 11th photo (left to right) in a series of framed photos Jean featured in her hallway, used in a photo elicitation interview conducted by SIUE fine arts librarian Therese Dickman and student Emily Warf in 2016.
