Lech Walesa, the first democratically elected President of Poland, visited Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on November 9, 2001. He gave a lecture titled "Democracy: The Never Ending Battle" in the Meridian Ballroom of the Morris University Center at 7:30 pm.
